The research commercialization office also presents the PC model, a complementary framework designed to unlock the commercial potential of completed final year projects and faculty research. Unlike the PPC model, which focuses on integrating patent-seeking from the start of a project, the PC model focuses on Patent acquisition and subsequent Commercialization efforts for existing innovations.
Example: If a faculty member develops a new food formulation and directly sells it to industry or consumers, that’s PC.
This model provides a streamlined path for students and faculty members to explore the commercial viability of their accomplished projects. Here’s how it works:
Our IP experts evaluate the technology’s novelty, uniqueness, and industrial use to determine patentability. If eligible, we guide researchers through the patent process to ensure proper IP protection.
Commercialization - Once patent protection is secured; the PC model actively facilitates bringing the innovation to market.
The PC model provides a valuable avenue for students and faculty to realize the commercial potential of their intellectual efforts. It offers a streamlined and targeted approach to patent acquisition and market exploration, ultimately accelerating the translation of academic research into impactful commercial outcomes.
The inventor and The Superior University will jointly own the intellectual property (IP).
