Protecting Your Innovation: Intellectual Property (IP) at Superior

Intellectual Property (IP) and Protection

Why is IP Important?

IP is the legal backbone of commercialization. It gives the creator (the University and the faculty) exclusive rights over their creation for a defined period, allowing us to attract investment and negotiate favorable licensing terms.

Types of IP Managed by ORIC:

Protect novel inventions, processes, and formulations (e.g., Engineering Solutions, new Drug Formulations).

Protects the original expression of an idea, such as software code, academic books, and journal content (e.g., Computer/Coding-based Solutions, Journal Content).

Protect brands, logos, and names.

Valuable, confidential information not protected by patent but critical to commercial success (e.g., proprietary processes in Lab Testing Services).
