Four years. Five editions. One consistent mission: turning Pakistan's youth into job creators.
SEE Pakistan did not start as a famous event. It started as a belief. The belief that Pakistan's universities were producing talented, driven young people who had nowhere to show what they could do. That gap needed to be filled. In August 2022, it was.
Four years later, SEE Pakistan is one of the most recognised startup platforms in the country. It has grown from a national exhibition into an international championship. It has moved from one university's vision to a coalition of institutions. And in 2026, it reaches its highest point yet — 100+ startups, $10,000 USD in prize money, and a direct link to the World Startup Championship 2026 (SEE Pakistan, 2026).
This blog traces that journey — year by year — and explains why SEE Pakistan matters to Pakistan's larger innovation story.
Where It Started: The Founding Idea
SEE Pakistan was created and powered by the Chaudhary Muhammad Akram Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CMACED) at Superior University (CMACED, 2022).
The founding idea was direct. Pakistan's Global Entrepreneurship Index ranking was 109 out of 137 countries (CMACED, 2022). The country had talent. It lacked structured platforms for that talent to compete, connect, and commercialise. SEE Pakistan was built to fill that gap.
APSUP's model was different from government-run expos. It was university-led, independence-month-timed, and built around a national competition — the National Startup Championship (NSC) — that fed the best startups into a grand finale exhibition (ProPakistani, 2023). The pipeline mattered. Startups did not just show up. They were selected, trained, coached, and then exhibited (SEE Pakistan LinkedIn, n.d.).
2022: The First Edition — Proving the Concept
Date: August 18, 2022 Venue: Expo Centre Lahore Co-hosts: Superior University, University of Lahore, University of Faisalabad.
SEE Pakistan 2022 brought together the top 100 startups, 129 partners, PKR 1 million in prize money, and PKR 10 million in investment opportunities. The event attracted a footfall of 50,000 attendees and reached a digital audience of 10 million people.
The National Startup Championship 2022 ran regional rounds in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, and Bahawalpur, making it the largest startup competition in Pakistan at the time. Over 50 judges examined the startups, and participants came from 81+ cities across the country.
Partners included the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), Entrepreneurs' Organisation Lahore (EO Lahore), SMEDA, and COMSTECH (LinkedIn, 2023). The tech company Programmers Force was a headline sponsor (LinkedIn, 2023). Even a Battle of the Bands competition was held in collaboration with PAMA Studio — signalling that SEE Pakistan was as much a cultural celebration of Pakistani youth as a business event (CMACED, 2022).
The first edition proved the concept. A university-led, competition-based, independence-month startup exhibition could draw 50,000 people and create real investment opportunities. Year two was already being planned before year one had finished.
2023: Going International
Date: August 26, 2023, Venue: International Expo Centre Lahore, Co-hosts: Superior University, University of Lahore, University of Faisalabad, University of Gujrat, University of Sialkot.
SEE Pakistan 2023 drew nominations and participants from eight regions of Pakistan and twenty-one countries worldwide. That single fact marks the biggest shift in the event's history. In one year, SEE Pakistan moved from a national competition to an international one.
SEE Pakistan 2023 earned international acclaim and effectively guided young startups toward a prosperous future. The entrepreneurial landscape of Pakistan was on full display.
Two new features were added. The World Startup Championship was introduced for the first time — connecting Pakistani startups to a global competition framework (Superior University, 2024). The Academic Excellence Awards recognised outstanding contributions from faculty and students across participating universities (Superior University, 2024).
Public sector universities were also invited to participate for the first time — broadening the platform beyond APSUP's private university network and making SEE Pakistan genuinely national in its reach (LinkedIn, 2023).
2024: Deepening the Ecosystem
Date: August 2024, Co-hosts: Superior University, University of Lahore, University of Faisalabad, University of Sialkot.
By 2024, SEE Pakistan had a clear identity. It was not just an expo. It was a full entrepreneurial ecosystem event. The World Startup Championship 2024 ran alongside it, attracting startups from diverse economic sectors and backgrounds (SEE Pakistan, n.d.).
The judging panel expanded significantly. Judges included senior academics, industry CEOs, technology founders, and healthcare professionals — reflecting the growing seriousness with which investors and industry regarded the competition (SEE Pakistan, n.d.).
By this point, hundreds of successful startups had been showcased at SEE Pakistan. Numerous had won national and international entrepreneurial competitions. SEE Pakistan had played a pivotal role in the country's entrepreneurial ecosystem for four consecutive years.
The 2024 edition also deepened the coaching infrastructure. Dedicated teams of coaches and trainers prepared participating startups before the event — ensuring that the exhibition floor reflected polished, investor-ready ventures, not just raw ideas (SEE Pakistan LinkedIn, n.d.).
2025: Policy Meets Practice
Date: August 2025, Host: APSUP with university partners
SEE Pakistan 2025 added a dimension that previous editions had not formally structured: policy advocacy.
SEE Pakistan 2025 featured renowned thought leaders from academia, government, and industry in panel discussions and keynote speeches. The outcomes of these discussions were shaped into policy recommendations for governmental bodies and other stakeholders. Through this advocacy, SEE Pakistan positioned itself as a platform that empowers decision-makers to shape policies that support entrepreneurship and economic growth.
This was a mature step. It meant that SEE Pakistan was no longer just showcasing startups. It was influencing the conditions under which startups survive and grow. The event had become a stakeholder in national policy — not just a spectator.
2026: The Peak — World Startup Championship Comes Home
Date: August 2026, Co-hosts: Superior University, University of Lahore, University of Sialkot, The Green International University, Supported by: APSUP, CMACED, The Innovation Hub
SEE Pakistan 2026 is the most ambitious edition yet. Born from the collaborative efforts of four universities, it showcases Pakistan's youth innovation on a global stage. APSUP is proud to foster this entrepreneurial drive, essential for economic growth.
The numbers reflect the journey: 100+ startups competing. $10,000 USD in prize money — the largest cash prize at any innovation expo in Pakistan (SEE Pakistan, 2026). The World Startup Championship 2026 runs alongside it, connecting winners to an international network of investors, mentors, and startup ecosystems.
What is on offer in 2026 goes beyond a competition. It includes a Startup Exhibition, investor connections, panel discussions, success stories, awards and recognitions, influencer networking, and community events (SEE Pakistan, 2026). It is a complete ecosystem experience — from idea validation to investor pitch, all under one roof.
What Five Editions Have Built
Looking across 2022 to 2026, a clear picture emerges.
● Scale has grown steadily. From 100 startups in 2022 to 100+ competing for a $10,000 USD prize in 2026, with international participation expanding from zero countries in 2022 to 21 countries by 2023.
● The university network has widened. The original trio of Superior University, University of Lahore, and University of Faisalabad has grown to include University of Sialkot, University of Gujrat, The Green International University, and public sector institutions.
● The platform has deepened. Each year added something new. 2022 gave it scale. 2023 gave it international reach. 2024 gave it ecosystem depth. 2025 gave it policy influence. 2026 gives it the highest prize in Pakistan's innovation expo history.
● The mission has stayed the same. In every edition, the core purpose has not changed: to take Pakistan's young entrepreneurs — the ones with ideas and energy but without platforms — and give them a stage, a competition, a coach, and a connection to the world (APSUP, 2025).
SEE Pakistan's underlying commitment has been to transform job seekers into job creators. The tangible outcomes — startups that became sustainable ventures — have been undeniable.
Why the Legacy Matters
Pakistan's startup ecosystem raised over $1 billion in funding in its first decade (i2i, 2025). But most of that funding went to a small number of cities and a small number of sectors. The founders who benefited were often already connected — to the right networks, the right universities, the right investors.
SEE Pakistan was built for everyone else. For the student in Bahawalpur with a business idea. For the young woman in Sialkot with a solution for the leather industry. For the engineering graduate in Gujrat who has never stood in front of an investor.
That is the legacy. Not just the events. Not just the prize money. But the consistent, annual act of saying to Pakistan's youth: your idea is worth showing to the world.
SEE Pakistan 2026 continues that promise — at its highest level yet.
